Dr. Carrie Masia is an experienced licensed clinical psychologist In NY and NJ specializing in cognitive-behavioral treatment of anxiety disorders in children, adolescents and young adults. She also enjoys working with parents of young children who would like support with parenting strategies. Dr. Masia was on faculty for 13 years in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, NYU Child Study Center at the NYU Langone Medical Center and is currently a Professor of Psychology at Montclair State University in the doctoral program in clinical psychology.
Dr. Masia is an eminent national and international academic and researcher who is well-known for the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based interventions for anxiety and mood disorders in schools and pediatric medical settings. Her clinical research program, aimed at improving treatment of anxiety disorders in youth, has received numerous grant awards from the National Institute of Mental Health and the Institute of Education Sciences. She has written over 80 scientific publications and book chapters, and published a Guilford book, Helping Students Overcome Social Anxiety, that has been widely used in NJ school districts. She serves on the editorial board of several journals and regularly sits on review committees for the National Institute of Health.
Dr. Masia has two young adult children who were educated in the Millburn school district. She enjoys reading, traveling, exercising, and spending time with friends and family.
